Coroner rules suicide in shooting investigated Thursday in Pocono Township

One person is dead after a shooting in Pocono Township.

According to Monroe County Coroner Thomas Yanac, the shooting was a suicide. No additional details about the victim were released by Yanac.

"This was an isolated incident, resulting in a family tragedy, and did not pose a danger to the general public or anyone outside of the immediate response area," the Pocono Township Police Department wrote in a statement .

According to Pocono Township Police Department, Brookdale Road between Frantz Hill Road and Dyson Road was closed for approximately four hours in response to a domestic situation.

Pocono Mountain Regional Police Department, Monroe County Sheriff's Office, Pennsylvania State Police and the Pocono Township Fire Department/Fire Police assisted Pocono Township Police Department in the investigation.
