Bi-Rite Market opens 3rd San Francisco location in Russian Hill area
Russian Hill in San Francisco has a new market.Bi-Rite opened up Thursday on Polk Street between Broadway and Vallejo. It is in the same spot that Real Food Company used to occupy.Bi-Rite is known for stocking products and produce from local vendors with the motto of creating community through food.There's been a lot of anticipation around this location since it was announced two years ago.MORE: 1st free supermarket inside CA school opens doors in SF low-income community"I think people wanted, they wanted, they want a place that they can feel at home. They feel that's part of their community that's going to serve their community," said Bi-Rite owner Sam Mogannam. "And when people found out that it was us, the excitement just rose because of our 26-year history of doing just that."This is the third Bi-Rite market in San Francisco.It has had a presence in the city for nearly 80 years. Young Girl Left Severely Injured in S.F. Shooting, Police Say
A young girl, who NBC Bay Area reports to be only eight-years old, was rushed to the hospital after suffering a gunshot wound yesterday evening. Police say they responded around 5:24 p.m. to a shooting on Chicago Way, a neighborhood in the southern end of the city. When they got there, they found the girl suffering from "life-threatening injuries."
Paddleboarder in critical condition after being pulled out of water by surfers in SF
A paddleboarder was rescued Friday morning at a section of Ocean Beach where the Great Highway meets Judah Street, according to the San Francisco Fire Department. The paddleboarder, an adult male, is in critical condition after being pulled out of the water by three fellow surfers, officials said.

Oakland police investigating death of person physically assaulted by several people
Authorities are looking for several people suspected of physically beating someone to death in Oakland.Police responded to a report of an unresponsive individual on the street around 8:45 a.m. Friday in the 800 block of Webster Street.When officers arrived, they provided medical aid until paramedics arrived. A violent altercation erupted at Elsie Allen High School, leading to a stabbing incident, which has now become the subject of a Santa Rosa Police Department (SRPD) investigation. This follows a 911 call from the school’s administration office at approximately 12:28 pm yesterday, as reported by the Santa Rosa Police Department's Facebook page. The situation unfolded when tensions between students escalated into a physical confrontation in the school's quad area, resulting in a 13-year-old male student being stabbed with a knife by a 14-year-old male counterpart. Two additional students joined the fray, kicking the armed assailant's head multiple times.
