POLAND, Ohio (KWBN) – Poland is getting state grant money to help pay for a multipurpose trail.

Mayor Tim Sicafuse says they’ve been exploring the project for several years, and the village is getting $185,000 to link a walking trail near Sheridan Road and Cover Drive with another path near Johnston Place.

The village revamped its comprehensive plan in 2020 to focus on more recreational activities.

“Part of our big (plan) was to make Poland Village more walkable. There are plenty of sidewalks throughout the town, but this will sort of complete the last area where there aren’t any. So if people want to walk the town or put strollers or bikes on sidewalks and stay off the streets, this will give them the ability to do so,” Sicafuse said.

Construction should start sometime next year and only take a couple of months to complete.
