Gov. Reynolds Issues Disaster Proclamation for Five Counties in Response to Severe Storms
Gov. Kim Reynolds has issued a disaster proclamation for Des Moines, Dubuque, Mitchell, Polk and Scott Counties in response to severe storms that occurred on July 15 and continuing. The governor's proclamation allows state resources to be utilized to respond to and recover from the effects of this severe weather and activates the Iowa Individual Assistance Grant Program and Disaster Case Advocacy Program.

POLK, IA, (July 07, 2024) - The Polk County Sheriff's Office has identified the boy who died in a head-on crash on Sunday as 10-year-old Maxwell Harry Amenson of Polk City. The accident happened at around 1:30 p.m. on N.W. Fisher Lane near the entrance to Cottonwood Recreation Area. There were two people in each of the vehicles involved in the crash.
