UPDATE: ALL FIXED – City of Rockmart experiencing technical difficulties this afternoon

Just as the City was closing up shop for the day, word came down that technical difficulties experienced this afternoon were fixed in Rockmart.

Officials updated to say around 5 p.m. that phones were back up, servers running and systems all good again as the work day – and fiscal year – concluded on Friday.

Due to the unexpected IT work, the city has extended the deadline to Monday for recreation signups for the fall.

Parents will have until 5 p.m. on Monday, July 1, to conclude signups.

As the final day of business for the 2024 Fiscal Year wraps up, Rockmart hit some technical difficulties during the lunch hour that knocked out the connection to their servers and has made the last few hours of work difficult for city employees.

Computer and phone systems are currently experiencing an outage, per the city’s social media posting earlier this afternoon following the lunch hour cutoff from systems used by administration and other departments to conduct regular business.

City Manager Stacey Smith said contact was made with the company that handles the city’s IT infrastructure and work is underway to get things back online before day’s end.

Due to the unexpected shutdown of services, the city is going to extend signups for fall sports past today’s deadline for parents who have been trying to get on systems last minute this afternoon.

An official announcement about that extension will be forthcoming.

Those who need the help of the Rockmart Police Department should call 911 for service. Additional customer service lines are also down for the time being.
