Woman Arrested for Animal Cruelty After Puppy Found Dead in Cage

Pompano Beach, FL - A 19-year-old South Florida woman was arrested for animal cruelty after authorities found a deceased chihuahua locked in a cage outside her home without food or water.

Authorities say Angelica Mar was arrested on Thursday following a report of a deceased dog in a cage.

Broward Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the scene and found a severely decomposed chihuahua locked inside a cage, surrounded by flies.

The puppy, named Luna, had been left outside without food or water for several days.

Despite water bowls being nearby, they were inaccessible to the caged animal.

Mar was present at the home when deputies arrived but her statement to authorities has not been publicly released.

She was arrested and charged with animal cruelty causing death and unlawful confinement of an animal without food or water.
