POOLER, Ga. (WSAV) – The recent worldwide internet outage disrupted business operations and impacted people’s daily activities Friday.

Kim Blake, a Pooler resident, told News 3 she was lucky the outage didn’t disrupt her day, and she could still accomplish her to-do list.

“I planned to take my car in for service today, so my husband suggested we call Goodyear. They said, ‘Yeah, we are affected, but we’re still open and still doing business. Come on in,'” she said.

One of the workers told Blake that only one of Goodyear’s six computers was working.

“He said, ‘We’re kind of limping along, but we’re still open and still doing business.’ But obviously, it’s a slowdown because of the outage,” she said. “He mentioned that of the 20 other Goodyear service centers in the region, none of them have working computers except the one here in Pooler.”

Restaurants and food chains were also affected, and Blake says most were only taking in-person orders.

“We went to Starbucks and went through the drive-thru,” she said. “As we talked to the person at the window, they said they were affected by it. He said, ‘We can’t take mobile orders, and people can’t order online. It’s definitely affecting us, but we’re still open and trying to do the best we can. But it’s kind of a pain for everybody.'”

If you’re still having issues with services, most agencies suggest trying again later.
