Boyd Family Shows Pride In Country Through Their Service
When Americans celebrate their independence on the Fourth of July, the commitment of those dedicated men and women who served in the military should always be remembered. If people wish to salute a family for being true Americans, they wouldn’t have to look any farther than David Boyd Sr. of the Fort Peck Reservation. The Poplar resident, who served for 31 years as a staff sergeant, can list the service done by various family members including his father, uncles, brothers and grandchildren.
FWP: Heat Wave, Drought Conditions Could Trigger Closures, Restrictions on Montana Waterbodies
HELENA – With the first real heat wave of the summer expected next week, anglers should be aware that restrictions and closures may be implemented soon due to drought conditions. The trigger for angling closures typically happens when the temperature of a waterbody reaches 73 degrees F for three consecutive days. However, some closures can occur at lower temperatures depending on the species being protected.

Feel That? Earthquake Rattles Parts Of Western Montana
Fireworks weren't the only thing shaking windows in western Montana as the Treasure State celebrated the 4th of July Holiday. Reports from the USGS (United States Geological Survey), say a 3.9 magnitude earthquake occurred near Seely Lake at 4:46 early Friday morning. The earthquake was located 23 miles east, northeast of Seely Lake, and 48 miles from Missoula.

U.S. Gov Awards $41M to Montana Tech Hub: Week in Brief: 7/5/24
BOZEMAN, Mont., July 5, 2024 — TheEconomic Development Administration, a part of the U.S. Department of Commerce, has awarded a $41 million federal grant to Montana’s Headwaters Regional Technology and Innovation Hub. The Hub is a consortium of organizations including Montana State University with the goal of developing smart photonic sensing systems that can be deployed in autonomous systems and applied to critical defense, resource management, and disaster prevention applications. The grant is part of a collection of 12 that are being awarded by the Economic Development Administration to technology hubs across the U.S., totaling $504 million.

Awesome Setting for New Northwest Montana Public Archery Range

The result of a project that's been in the works for a period of time is that archery shooters now have a new range along Flathead Lake. Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks has completed development of its public archery range at the Big Arm Unit of Flathead Lake State Park. FWP recently hosted a grand opening ceremony with Governor Greg Gianforte, members of the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes Natural Resources Department and Tribal Council, and members of the Dayton Elementary School archery team (more on that shortly).
