Every dog gets its day

PORT CHARLOTTE — Southern Technical College recently hosted “Pets and Their People” with students, instructors, graduates and its staff volunteering the day.

The Port Charlotte facility also hosted Camp Bow Woo to discuss doggie day care and the Suncoast Humane Society was on-hand with dogs up for adoption, according to a news release.

“It was a fantastic event and over 130 dogs were washed, dried and nail trims,” it stated. “People were given goodie bags and dogs all got a bandana after their wash.”

People stopping by had a chance to tour the college to look at its veterinary assisting program. People also donated to local animal shelters.

Southern Technical College also offers up programs involving the medical assisting, electrical and surgical technology fields. It is also set to start a heating and air conditioning program in September.
