Tropical Storm Beryl approaching Texas coast with winds nearing hurricane strength

PORT LAVACA, Texas – Tropical Storm Beryl is approaching the Texas coast, and residents are bracing for its impact. The storm is currently generating winds of at least 60 miles per hour, with the potential to strengthen into a hurricane when it makes landfall.

Officials from the Texas Division of Emergency Management have expressed concern about the number of people vacationing along the coast who may not evacuate. This concern is heightened by the potential for a significant storm surge, which could cause extensive flooding in the area.

Residents are urged to secure their belongings and prepare for the possibility of strong winds and flooding. Tropical storm force winds are expected to reach Victoria by midnight.
