Chelsea Lynn McBride, Age 36 of Port Lavaca, Texas, suddenly passed away in her sleep on July 4th, 2024 leaving a void that cannot be filled. Chelsea was born on June 24th, 1988 in Port Lavaca, TX to Wendy and the late Roy McBride. She was a bright and joyful child who could light up the room with her unique laugh. She graduated from Calhoun HS in 2006 and was so intelligent, the type of person who took calculus just for fun. Chelsea and her late grandma “Nanny Flo” always had such a special bond. She was the oldest of 4, and a wonderful mother to her daughter, Alexis Rayne Taylor. Alexis was the apple of her eye. Any time you talked to Chelsea, all she talked about is how her daughter is so bright and such an artist. Chelsea was loved and adored by her boyfriend, Zachary Taylor.

PORT LAVACA — Laura Paulette Simmons Dare, 72, went to be with the Lord on July 3, 2024 at her home in Port Lavaca Texas. Paulette was born on October 2, 1951. Paulette was preceded in death by her parents Reggie and Nita Burnett Simmons, and her husband Ernie Dare of Port Lavaca. Paulette graduated from Conroe High School in 1970 and attended college at Tyler Junior College for 2 years.

Felisita worked as a Nanny and later at the Hatch Bend Country Club in Port Lavaca. She was a member of Our Lady of the Gulf Catholic Church.

Aushalay Johnson won the Entrepreneur Conference and Pitch Competition hosted by 3-N-1 Trinity Services at The Potpourri House on Saturday. "Our entrepreneurs have been in our cohort for eight long weeks," said Darice Anderson, Executive Director of 3-N-1 Trinity Services. "They learn things like target audience, target marketing, market research, how to build their credit, how to start a business, how to run a business. We take them through all of that, and then we also teach them how to pitch."

Point Comfort City Council approves Alamo Street Project
POINT COMFORT – A project for Alamo Street was approved by the Point Comfort City Council during its Monday, July 1, meeting. The project would cover 150 feet by 30 feet of Alamo Street for reclamation that will be shored up with 2% lime, approximately six inches. It will be primed as well with one course of chip seal added.
