Florida man arrested for human trafficking, drug offenses
The Flagler County Sheriff's Office arrested a Palm Coast man earlier this week for alleged human trafficking, sexual battery against a minor and fentanyl trafficking. According to FCSO, they had been investigating 32-year-old David William Chenowith of Palm Coast since June for several felony offenses following a tip from a concerned citizen. The investigation involved multiple juvenile victims of human trafficking, with the children ranging in ages from 14 to 16. Detectives believe Chenowith had been having sex with them for drugs, money, clothes and food.

Villager escapes prosecution in shoplifting case at Walmart
A Villager has escaped prosecution in a shoplifting case after successfully completing an anti-theft course. Karon Rae Stockman, 68, of the Village of St. James, will not face prosecution on the theft charge, according to an announcement of no information earlier this month in Sumter County Court. Stockman had been allowed to enter into a pre-trial intervention contract which required her to complete a four-hour anti-theft course and to complete a weekend of work detail in Sumter County.
