1 dead in single-car crash outside Port Orchard

A teenage girl was killed and an 18-year-old man hospitalized after a single-car crash Wednesday in unincorporated Port Orchard, the Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office announced Thursday.

Deputies responded to the 700 block of SE Pine Road, near Burley, just before midnight, where they found a 2007 Subaru Impreza flipped over. Both the driver and passenger were extricated from the vehicle by South Kitsap Fire and Rescue.

The girl was later declared deceased, the sheriff’s office said. Her age was not immediately available.

A witness told deputies that the vehicle was driving at a high speed, before becoming airborne and striking several trees.

The male driver showed no signs of impairment, the sheriff’s office said. An investigation is ongoing, according to KCSO.
