Black woman dies in California prison from heat over 110 degrees
A 42-year-old Black woman, Adrienne Boulware, has died in the custody of the California Department of Corrections at the Central California Women’s Facility in Chowchilla. On July 4, prison guards exposed Boulware to extreme temperatures outdoors during a heatwave for 15 minutes, leaving her with just a small glass of water in the over 110 F heat. Boulware began to exhibit symptoms of heat exhaustion almost immediately after returning indoors. Two days later, she passed away while receiving medical care. Newlywed man, 26, dies in major crash while traveling to Yosemite
A newlywed Southern California man died in a major crash in the Central Valley while driving to Yosemite this month. The July 13 crash occurred on Highway 99 in the town of Pixley, about 60 miles south of Fresno, according to a California Highway Patrol report. Officers from the CHP Fresno Communications Center received a call about the crash near Terra Bella Avenue at approximately 9:04 a.m.
