Vehicle Strikes Deer, Bursts into Flames on I-90 in Ripley
The driver of a vehicle on I-90 eastbound in the Town of Ripley was able to escape injury after the vehicle became fully involved in flames Tuesday evening. According to the Ripley Fire Department, the flames broke out in the area of milepost 490.0 after the vehicle struck a deer at about 8:30 PM. Crews say the driver was able to get out of the vehicle before EMS crews arrived.

Panama Man Sentenced for Probation Violation
A south county man who violated the terms of his probation that stemmed from a felony drug conviction will serve six years in state prison. Chautauqua County District Attorney Jason Schmidt says 38-year-old Billy Heilman of Panama was sentenced Monday by County Court Judge David Foley, who also gave him three years post-release supervision. Heilman was currently serving a five-year probation sentence after pleading guilty in February to a Class C felony count of 4th-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, which resulted from a February 2023 traffic stop on Baker Street in Jamestown in which Heilman was found to possess a quantity of methamphetamine. In May, the Chautauqua County Office of Probation filed a violation against Heilman for not complying with the terms of his probation. Schmidt thanked the Jamestown Police Department for their work on this case and Chautauqua County Probation officers for their diligent supervision of probationers.
