    TIGARD FESTIVAL OF BALLOONS — Forty years from inception, Tigard’s annual Festival of Balloons returns to celebrate its ruby jubilee June 21-23 at Cook Park. Hot air balloons will launch each morning, with vendors and carnival rides available ahead of the evening's Night Glow event and musical acts. Tickets from $15.     RISK/REWARD — Artists have been announced for the 2024 Risk/Reward Festival of New Performance, June 21-23, at Portland Institute for Contemporary Art (PICA), 15 N.E. Hancock St., Portland. It’s the 16th year of the festival. There are more than 40 artists and multiple performances each day. The headline artists: Sarah Finn, Vancouver, British Columbia, theater/video puppetry; Olivia Camfield, Portland, dance-film; The Clown Mystics, Portland, clown; Paul Susi, Portland, theater; Drama Tops, Seattle, dance/nightlife.     FESTIVAL OF THE ARTS — This summer, a popular tradition continues, the Lake Oswego Festival of the Arts. The event, founded in 1963, is an annual arts education program at Lakewood Center for the Arts. Events are held traditionally at the center and George Rogers Park. Unique art exhibits will be available to visitors, along with art, food, music, youth exhibits, workshops and activities. The Festival of the Arts will be held June 21-23.     DOG SHOW — The Clackamas Kennel Club’s annual dog show returns to the fairgrounds in Canby June 21-23 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day. The show features hundreds of breeds competing in various events throughout the day. The event is free, and visitors can wander the grounds to see the many varieties of dogs competing.     DOLLY HOOT NIGHT — The great Dolly Parton is celebrated with Siren Nation’s 18th annual Dolly Parton Hoot Night, 8 p.m. Saturday, June 22, at Alberta Rose Theatre, 3000 N.E. Alberta St. Local musicians pay tribute to the queen of country music and prolific songwriter. They are: Ezza Rose, Alexa Wiley, Tara Velarde, Rose Gerber, The Waysiders, Shorty and the Mustangs.     TASTE OF WOODBURN — It's a family-friendly weekend of live entertainment, local vendors, and tons of great food that highlights the diverse culinary culture of Woodburn. The Taste of Woodburn runs from 12 to 9 p.m. Saturday, June 22, and 12 to 6 p.m. Sunday, June 23, in the Woodburn Downtown Plaza, located off 1st Street between Garfield and Hayes streets.

    WRITERS CONFERENCE — The 2024 Cascade Christian Writers Conference will be held June 23-26 at the Canby Grove Christian Center. The conference allows writers or aspiring writers to meet with literary agents, acquisition agents, and inspirational mentors and participate in myriad workshops targeted to particular parts of the writing process.     BOAT RACE — The 2024 Milk Carton Boat Race, the final Rose Festival event, will take place at Westmoreland Park on Sunday, June 23. Participation requires that boats be made of recycled milk cartons and jugs. Children ages seven and up are eligible to compete. There are also divisions for teens, adults, and groups of mixed ages. The race takes place in the casting pond at Westmoreland Park, 7700 S.E. 22nd Ave., Portland. More: rosefestival.org .
