Man fatally stabbed in Southeast Portland

A man was stabbed and killed in the Powellhurst-Gilbert neighborhood in the early morning hours Monday, July 15.

At 12:30 a.m. Portland Police Bureau East Precinct officers responded to the intersection of Southeast 136th Avenue and Southeast Clinton Street on reports of a stabbing. Upon arrival, they found a male victim with life-threatening injuries. He was transported to a nearby hospital where he died.

The victim was 73-year-old Kenny L. Housman, of Portland. His family has been notified of his death.

The suspect who stabbed Housman remained at the scene. He was detained and later released from police custody. That person has not been charged with a crime and is cooperating with detectives.

    Repeat suspect steals again

A suspect was taken into custody by Gresham Police over the weekend after being spotted driving a stolen car for the fourth time since 2019.

Sunday, July 14, officers attempted to stop a previously reported stolen Toyota Tundra near Northeast 181st and Northeast Glisan Street. The suspect attempted to flee with officers pursuing. Spike strips were deployed near Southeast 148th and Southeast Division, deflating the suspect’s tires and causing him to lose control of the truck and crash into a power pole.

The suspect, 31-year-old Secilio Armando Muncieg, was taken into custody for unlawful use of a motor vehicle, felony elude, misdemeanor elude, reckless driving, resisting arrest and escape. He was treated at the hospital before being taken to the Multnomah County Detention Center.

Knife-wielding woman in custody outside Subway

A woman was taken into custody after terrorizing customers outside a sandwich shop with a long-handled bladed weapon.

Gresham officers responded Sunday, July 14, to Subway, 18801 S.E. Stark St., after 911 callers said a woman was chasing people with the blade and had bit someone on the arm hard enough to draw blood.

Officers contacted the suspect, and though she resisted arrest, were able to take her into custody without injuring her or any of the officers. The woman is believed to have been under the influence or possibly suffering mental illness.

She faces unlawful use of a weapon, menacing, fourth-degree assault, and resisting arrest.
