Kitten Yoga event offers exercise, chance to adopt a cat in Northeast Portland

PORTLAND, Ore. ( KOIN ) – When you get an opportunity to “paws” and relax, you take it. And that’s just what KOIN 6 News did when offered a chance to experience Kitten Yoga.

The event was held at the Northeast Community Center in Portland on Saturday, giving attendees a chance to exercise with some relaxing stretches while surrounded by cute kittens meandering around the floor area.

The event was sponsored by Multnomah County Animal Services , meaning all 21 of the participating kittens there were also available for $10 adoption. These kittens ranged from six to 10 weeks old and met national model criteria.

“Together with more than 100 kitten foster program volunteers, we work together to match healthy, well-socialized kittens with loving families,” said Enid Traisman, a longtime volunteer with MCAS who partnered with yoga instructor Tina Olivia to organize the event.

Event planners say they hope to offer more of these opportunities in the future.
