    Silver Falls State campground to close through next summer for renovations

    The Oregon Parks and Recreation Department is outlining a list of closures across state parks starting in September to upgrade aging infrastructure.

    Regionally, beginning Sept. 16, Silver Falls State Park is closing its campground, except cabins 1-10, through June 30 of next year. The parks department is going to replace the B Loop restroom and repave the A Loop.

    While many campsites will be closed, the park's trails, day-use areas and South Falls Lodge will remain open.

    Next year, the parks department will begin adding a new campground and visitor center to Silver Falls State Park, thanks to a state bond.

    Meanwhile:

    Milo McIver State Park will close its campground Sept. 16 through March 2025 to refurbish a restroom and repave some areas. The day-use areas will remain open.Bullards Beach near Bandon will close its campground Sept. 16 through March 2025 to upgrade the sewer line and lift station. All campsites, overnight restroom facilities, yurts, meeting hall and dump station will be closed, though the horse camp will remain open. Day-use areas will remain open.Nehalem Bay State Park will be closed in its entirety from Nov. 1 through June 30, 2025, to install new water and electrical lines, add restroom and shower buildings, renovate nine campsites and address traffic issues near the entrance.Fort Stevens will have specific campground loops closed in late fall or early winter for water and electrical upgrades and a new restroom building. The historic Guardhouse on site will also see roof restoration, cleaning and upgrades.
