    15 Portsmouth neighborhoods to join police, firefighters for National Night Out 2024

    PORTSMOUTH — On Tuesday, Aug. 6, neighborhoods throughout Portsmouth will be joining forces with thousands of communities nationwide for the 41st Annual National Night Out Against Crime.

    The event sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch, will involve more than 17,000 communities from all 50 states, U.S. territories, Canadian cities and military bases around the world. Portsmouth's event is organized by he Citywide Neighborhood Committee, which is co-chaired by Colleen Ovecka and Peter Somssich. CNC members Colleen Ovecka and Christian Berling are coordinating this event.

    The Portsmouth Fire Department and the Portsmouth Public Works Department are active participants and strong supporters of National Night Out.

    From 5-7 p.m., on Tuesday, Aug. 6, residents in neighborhoods throughout Portsmouth will spend the evening outside with neighbors as well as police, fire, public works, and city and elected officials. Many neighborhoods throughout Portsmouth will be hosting a variety of special events such as block parties, cookouts, parades, contests, youth activities, and games.

    Pannaway Manor (at Pannaway Playground; Schumann Ave)

    Creek Neighborhood (at Pine Street Park)

    Islington Creek (at Rock Street Park)

    Bersum Gardens (332 Leslie Drive)

    Maple Haven (Maple Haven Park)

    West End – Lafayette (Circle on Sewall Rd)
