PORTSMOUTH — The Gallery at Jimmy's will hold its grand opening Aug. 15 with its first Gallery Nights event.

The Gallery is in the former Museum of New Art space within Jimmy's Jazz & Blues Club on Congress Street in Portsmouth. Every Thursday night 7-11 p.m., Aug. 15 through Sept. 12, the gallery will host Gallery Nights, transforming into a contemporary cocktail lounge, according to the club's leadership.

“As a city, Portsmouth is a central spot for arts, culture, and nightlife,” said Brendan Jeannetti, who is organizing the event. “The goal here is to create a unique experience, where people can enjoy them together as one.”

Attendees can expect an unforgettable evening, brimming with artistic flair, cool vibes, and great music, according to Jeannetti.

The Gallery at Jimmy’s space has been "meticulously transformed," according to Peter and Michael Labrie, the club's owners.

“We are absolutely delighted to further enrich the cultural epicenter of arts and music in Portsmouth,” said Michael Labrie. “The transformation of this historic venue into a contemporary gallery and event space is exciting to us, because it allows us the opportunity to further contribute to a vibrant community.”

Spanning 6,800 square feet, The Gallery at Jimmy’s can accommodate groups of 24-200, according to the owners. It will feature the work of local artists. The space will host cultural gatherings, weddings, showers and corporate functions.
