All Poteau pre-K through 8th-grade students getting free breakfast and lunch
POTEAU, Okla. — Poteau Public Schools announced on July 1 that all students in pre-K to 8th grade will receive free breakfast and lunch for the next four years. The district applied for the United States Department of Agriculture's (USDA) Community Eligibility Provision program (CEP) and was approved, Poteau schools said in a post on Facebook. The district was on the program for as long as anyone could remember until two years ago when they didn't qualify.

Beginning May 30, 2024, the program embarked on a series of camps and field trips that not only educated but also inspired students in grades 6 through 12.
