Wolf Trap offers wintry charms on ideal summer night with a painterly “Bohème”
The summer opera stars aligned for a delightful experience Friday evening at Wolf Trap. With no rain or humidity, a cool breeze set the ideal temperature for a near-capacity crowd at the Filene Center, both under the venue’s roof and picnicking on the lawn. With the National Symphony Orchestra gathered in the pit, Wolf Trap Opera Company fielded a solid cast of young singers for a worthy production of Giacomo Puccini’s evergreen La Bohème.
Carolina Gets OT Win Over Maryland
The Carolina Chaos took on the Maryland Whipsnakes in the second Friday matchup of the PLL’s Week 6 slate in Fairfield, Connecticut. A Washington, D.C., man has been convicted of first-degree murder and rape in a case that had gone unsolved for decades. In 1979, Vickie Lynn Belk was kidnapped, sexually assaulted and shot to death. 26-Year-Old Man Fatally Shot in Northeast DC, Metropolitan Police Offer $25k Reward for Information
The Metropolitan Police Department is currently conducting an investigation into a fatal shooting that shook the Northeast community this past Thursday. The incident, which occurred in the afternoon on Bryant Street, left 26-year-old Hassan Kamara Jr. of Takoma Park, MD, dead from gunshot wounds. According to official reports, police responded around 3:30 p.m. to calls regarding the shooting and discovered Kamara Jr. critically injured.
