LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — A Potterville Public School Board member has resigned.

Trustee Ashley Harris submitted her resignation Sunday night, says Board of Education President Stacy Ann Stipes.

Under Michigan law, the board will have 30 days to conduct a search for a replacement for Harris and appoint them to the remainder of her term, which expires at the end of December. School board elections will be held in November.

In addition, now-former Potterville Superintendent Kevin Robydek resigned to become the superintendent of DeWitt Public Schools. He took over the DeWitt post on Monday.

The board will meet Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. to consider appointing an interim superintendent and review proposals to hire an outside consultant to assist in the search for a permanent superintendent.

The board will also discuss expanding the district’s athletic director position from part-time to full-time.

Until Monday, the district operated with a part-time athletic director who also served as a part-time Dean of Students. Jacob Briney, who served in that role, has been hired as the full-time Dean of Students.

Sipes says Briney recommends the district hire a full-time athletic director due to the amount of time it takes to administer both programs. The board will evaluate the budget to determine if a full-time position can be funded.

If the position can be funded, the district will post the position and conduct a full search for a candidate, Sipes says.
