POUGHKEEPSIE - Four people were injured, one of them seriously, in a shooting early Friday morning in the city of Poughkeepsie.

According to city police, officers responded to a report of a shooting assault in the vicinity of 380 Main St. just after 3:30 a.m. Friday.

The responding officers found four people suffering from gunshot wounds, and a large, disorderly group.

Police said one of the victims, a 28-year-old man, was taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. Three women, ages 23, 26 and 29, were taken to hospitals for treatment of injuries that were not life-threatening.

Part of Main Street was closed for several hours while crime scene technicians gathered evidence, and the police department's Detective Division began its investigation.
