A man was arrested Saturday evening following a six-hour standoff with a San Diego County sheriff’s SWAT team.

The victim called 911 about 1:30 p.m. Saturday to report that his roommate attacked him with a box cutter at a house in the 13000 block of York Avenue, near the intersection of Scots Way, according to Lt. Gavin Lanning of the Poway Sheriff’s Station.

The victim had suffered abrasions during the altercation with his roommate, identified as 32-year-old Travis Bradley Miller, Lanning said.

Arriving deputies contacted Miller to ask him to come out of the house and surrender peacefully, but he refused, the lieutenant said.

A sheriff’s SWAT team, crisis negotiators, K-9s and a helicopter surrounded the house and Miller eventually surrendered and was arrested without incident just after 8 p.m., Lanning said.

Miller was to be booked at San Diego Central Jail on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and violating conditions of probation, both felonies, the lieutenant said.
