Deputies with the Poway Sheriff’s Station responded to the residence, which was located in the 13000 block of York Avenue. Once on scene, authorities attempted to de-escalate the situation, while trying to convince the suspect to come out of the house and surrender peacefully. Despite those efforts, authorities said the man refused to exit the home.

An aerial support helicopter was called in to help deputies monitor the situation overhead, the department explained. The sheriff’s Crisis Negotiation Team, the Special Enforcement Detail and deputy K-9 handlers also arrived on scene.

Around six hours later, just after 8 p.m., the suspect, identified as 32-year-old Travis Bradley Miller, was taken into custody without out incident. He was booked into San Diego Central Jail on suspicion of felony charges, including assault with a deadly weapon and violating the conditions of his probation.
