The countdown is on at Arizona Snowbowl. According to a social media post shared on August 13th, 2024, "the 2024/2025 winter season is scheduled to kick off in 100 days!". Meaning, AZ Snowbowl is scheduled to open on November 22, 2024.

Perhaps some of the reason this 100-day-countdown feels like it's coming quicker than normal is because this past season, AZ Snowbowl remained open until June 1st, marking the resort's latest closing in history.

Officials at AZ Snowbowl wrote, "We can’t wait to welcome you all back to the slopes and if the 100-day countdown isn’t enough to get you excited, we’ve got even more sweet news to get you stoked!"

This sweet news came in the form of the resort announcing that they are installing a new chairlift to replace the Aspen Chairlift. This new quad will service new lower intermediate and beginner ski terrain through aspen groves within the current USFS Special Use Permit.

Their social post reported that the AZ Snowbowl team is "already hard at work on this project to ensure it is open for the upcoming season."

Generally, the upcoming season has some inklings of concern with current La Niña forecasting, but models are always subject to change as the date draws closer.

NOAA explains that La Niña patterns most often lead to drier and warmer winters in the south, and colder and wetter winters to the north. In this case, for the southwest, a drier and warmer winter may be on tap, and no one wants that. Then again, this past season surprised everyone coming right on the heels of such an epic 2022-23 winter season, so you never know until the time is here.

Plus, there's no doubt that a new chairlift will get Arizona skiers excited.
