Utah's Largest Night Skiing Resort Just Expanded

Brighton Resort, located in Utah's Big Cottonwood Canyon, has made an announcement that will excite the after-work skiing crowd — the resort is expanding its night skiing terrain.

New for the Winter '24/'25 season, Brighton will add night skiing on Mount Millicent (known simply as 'Milly').

The lift is a locals-favorite offering long descents, powder-filled fields, and dozens of natural features to air off of.

Night skiing isn't all that common out west where the mountains are bigger and the snow is deeper, but Brighton is leaning into their reputation as a night skiing hub. The resort added lights off the Snake Creek lift in '22/'23 and '23/'24, and with the addition of Milly this season, the only lift that won't have night skiing terrain is Brighton's Great Western Express.

Brighton has yet to release specific details on which of Milly's trails will open for night skiing, but we can assume that they'll start with one or more of the groomed runs descending from the looker's right of the peak. The looker's left of Milly offers the aforementioned powder and natural features, and even though Brighton has a reputation for doing things a bit outside-the-box, it's unlikely that the resort will light non-groomed trails.

Brighton offers night skiing from 4-9pm on Monday-Saturday from mid-December through late-March.

Night skiing presents a unique set of challenges, cold temperatures and lower visibility come to mind, but ultimately, it's more time to well... ski! Whether you're a Salt Lake City local who has to work until 4pm, or a vacationer wanting to maximize time on snow, Brighton is the only game in town when it comes to night skiing.

Yes, skiers can travel north of SLC to reach Powder Mountain and Nordic Valley for night skiing, but it's hard to beat the after-work access of driving up Big Cottonwood Canyon for a few laps before the lifts close.

We'll tally Brighton's night skiing offering once Milly's lineup is released, but the resort is inching closer to taking the title of 'Largest Night Skiing Terrain' from Mt. Hood Meadows, Oregon.
