    [UPDATE]

PRAIRIE DU CHIEN, Wis. (WKBT) -- Clean up begins as water levels recede in Prairie du Chien.

Officials from the City of Prairie du Chien say the river is at 15.3 feet and continues to go down.

Crews from the city will begin collecting debris left behind by the flooding on Monday. Residents who had flood waters near their homes are asked to place debris items along the curb, separated. Clean-up kits are available for checkout at city hall.

For those who used sandbags, they can be disposed of at an area set up behind the radio station on North Prairie Street. The city asks that residents cut the bags and dump the sand into the garbage tote. This will be available through Monday.

St. Feriole Island is open to all traffic. The marina landing and Villa Louis landing are accessible. All docks are still underwater.

The Wells Street flood gate is now open as well as recreational river traffic in Pools 9 and 10.

EVENTS – Hammerfest Softball Tournament and the Junior Legion Tournament and Alumni game are taking place this weekend at the ballfields on St. Feriole Island. The Farmers market will resume at Lawler Park on Thursday, July 25. The Music in the Park on July 25 will take place in the Prairie Dog Blues Fest grounds and then resume the following week at Lawler Park. Villa Louis Historical Site will resume regular hours on Wednesday, July 24, 2024. The annual Prairie Dog Blues Fest will take place on St. Feriole Island as planned.
