PRAIRIE GROVE, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — The city of Prairie Grove is growing and so is its police force.

The police department is kicking off a million-dollar expansion and renovation project with some of those changes including the expansion of shared spaces and offices and creating a locker room for officers.

Chief Chris Workman said the department’s facelift will benefit the community as it continues to grow.

“Overall, a more secure facility. The parking will be better. There’s just a ton of benefits we think that’s not just for the patrol officers, but the community as well.” Workman said.

During the expansion and remodel PGPD will occupy space in city hall. Chief Workman said the goal is to have the project done in 10 to 14 months.
