Iowa DNR Investigates Fish Kill in Northeast Iowa
The Iowa Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is investigating a northeast Iowa fish kill. On July 19th, the DNR Field Office in Manchester was notified of dead fish in Crane Creek, approximately two miles southwest of Readlyn in Bremer County. Officials believe the fish kill originated at 250th Street and Piedmont Avenue.

MARION, Iowa — After a year of construction, the new St. Luke's Marion Emergency Room is set to open on August 6th. UnityPoint Health leaders were joined by St. Luke's ER team members there on Friday to hold a ribbon cutting and show folks around the department. The new ER is a 24/7 facility located in the 3300 block of Armar Drive near Thomas Park.

So, we are trying to preserve the history that is carved in stone,” he said.
Marion to Celebrate National Night Out on August 6
National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie. This year, National Night Out will take place on Tuesday, Aug. 6. The Marion Police Department is partnering with Marion Parks and Recreation, the Marion Public Library and the Marion Fire Department to organize a community-wide event from 5-7 p.m. at Thomas Park, 343 Marion Blvd.
Manchester City Council Approves Livestock Requests
The Manchester City Council has given their okay for livestock to be housed at a property within the city limits. Wayne and Niki Miranda are in the process of purchasing property at 245 Park Drive, which is just over 21 acres on the edge of Manchester by the hospital. The Mirandas are requesting permission to house livestock on the site – primarily two cow/calf pairs, four ponies and a horse.
