Keeping safety a priority while celebrating the Fourth of July
BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - The Fourth of July holiday is one known for great celebrations and time spent celebrating with family and friends. There are several things to keep in mind to ensure this year’s Independence day is a safe one for everyone. The American Red Cross suggests attending professional firework performances that are being done, no matter if it is legal to do at-home fireworks in your parish or not. Glow sticks and noise makers make for a safer environment for celebrating, especially with children. If you are doing fireworks at home in a parish where it is legal, remember to always follow instructions on the packaging, keep a supply of water close by, wear eye protection if lighting the firework, light one firework at a time and store fireworks away from children or pets.
