In a remarkable display of skill and teamwork, a group of Mississippi hunters has achieved a historic feat by capturing the longest alligator ever recorded in the state, measuring an astounding 14 feet and 3 inches in length and weighing 802.5 pounds.

Tanner White, Don Woods, Will Thomas, and Joey Clark, who work at Red Antler Processing, a place that deals with game and hunting, managed to catch this gigantic alligator.

The Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks later confirmed the record-breaking capture through a social media post, announcing that the colossal alligator had shattered the previous state record for "longest alligator harvested."

The extraordinary feat took place at the West Central Alligator Hunting Zone, an area known for its diverse wildlife.

According to the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks, the colossal gator not only reached an impressive length but also boasted a belly girth measuring 66 inches and a tail girth of 46.5 inches.

Mississippi has long been a habitat for alligators. The hunting of these formidable reptiles for sport has been permitted since 2005, with varying regulations.

In 2021, the latest year for which data is available, a total of 776 alligators were captured in Mississippi. But the average length of these reptiles was just under 8 feet, significantly dwarfed by the colossal 14-foot gator captured by the team from Red Antler Processing.
