Arkansas State alum Camryn Newton-Smith will represent Australia in 2024 Olympics
JONESBORO, Ark. (KAIT) - A Red Wolf will howl in Paris. Camryn Newton-Smith was selected to the 2024 Australia Olympic Team on Monday. Newton-Smith had a impressive resume in the women’s heptathlon, winning the Oceania Athletics Championships in June. She racked up 6070 points in the seven events in Fiji. Newton-Smith captured gold in the Australian Championships in April with a personal best 6180 points.
8 building permits issued in June
In June, 8 building permits were issued according to a report from the City of Mountain Home’s Building Inspection Manager Jeannie Anderson. A commercial addition topped the report with one permit issued to Southern Construction on behalf of West End Social located at 1350 U.S. Highway 62 West for a construction value of $350,000.
UAPB applications up 65% for Fall ’24 semester, highest in more than 10 years
Early results of a new recruitment strategy have yielded a 65% increase in fall 2024 applications, the highest in over ten years. As of June 27, 2024, a total of 7,175 students had applied to the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff, compared to 4,356 at the same time in 2023.
Historic Anshe Emeth fought for racial justice
On March 13, 1867, Anshe Emeth became the first Jewish congregation to receive a charter from the Arkansas Legislature. UCA program to provide private, commercial pilot training in Northwest Arkansas
The University of Central Arkansas will launch its new highly certified pilot training program, UCA Aviation Academy, in spring 2024. Located at Conway Regional Airport, the academy is the result of a partnership between UCA, the city of Conway, and Conway Regional Airport. It will provide training and certification in private pilot, instrument rating, and commercial pilot licenses. These licenses and ratings will have full certification and accreditation from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
