State Route 89 Closed Between Watson Lake and Phippen Roundabout
A portion of State Route 89 in Prescott, is closed following significant damage to the roadway from an underground water line break, between the Watson Lake and Phippen Roundabouts. Traffic is being diverted to Old SR 89 to go around the damaged roadway, however, alternate routes are advised to avoid the area entirely. Repairs are expected to take at least two weeks.
City of Prescott to Begin Sundog Ranch Road Widening Project on July 8, 2024
The City of Prescott (City) and their contractor, Fann Contracting, are set to begin widening Sundog Ranch Road to accommodate the relocation of the Transfer Station’s fee booth and scales as shown in the map below. The existing fee booth and scales will remain open throughout construction, and access will be maintained via a temporary access route. This project will improve access to the Transfer Station and other City facilities on Sundog Ranch Road.
Prescott, Arizona Dedicates New Memorial Honoring 19 Fallen Granite Mountain Hotshots
Prescott, Arizona recently honored the memory of the 19 Granite Mountain Hotshots, firefighters who tragically perished 11 years ago during the Yarnell Hill Fire. On Sunday, a new memorial sculpture was dedicated at the Yavapai County Courthouse Plaza. Patrick McCargy expressed his sentiments in a statement obtained by FOX 10 Phoenix, "It's something we've been working on for 10 years now, and it's been a long journey for everybody, but I hope this project brings a lot of healing, and like our fire chief said, starts the mission of looking forward with a joyous heart."
Prescott Public Library Parking Lot Project Complete
The City of Prescott and their contractor, Combs Construction Company, have finished reconstructing the parking lot of the Prescott Public Library. The Marina Street parking lot is now open. Reconstruction included the removal and replacement of the asphalt pavement, driveway entrances and parking stall striping. This project has successfully enhanced the library’s infrastructure and ADA compliance.

GRANITE CREEK TRAIL ART PROJECT TAKES FIRST STEP TO INSTALL TRAIL ART. Barbara Nelson, Founder and President of the Granite Creek Trail Art Project, formerly the Granite Creek Trail Mural Project, is thrilled to announce the passage today by the Civic Enhancement Committee, reconstituted combination of the former Art in Public Places Committee and others, of their recommendation that the City of Prescott accept donation of three pieces by Marcella Hirschy and Jonathan Decker of David Hirschy’s Sculpture Art, and allow their installation on the section of Granite Creek Trail adjacent Sam Hill Alley, North of Willis Street and just north of the Gazebos the City constructed there. This art installation, if accepted by the City, will honor David Hirschy’s Memory and his Art.
