There were reasons to cheer for all area schools who competed among 12 schools at the Marawood Conference Invitational at UW-Stevens Point on April 1. Highlights include Chequamegon senior Autumn Michalski winning the distance triple, while Phillips sophomore Gavin Esterholm won both of his distance events.

Phillips coach Erik Olson said that competing in the fieldhouse of a Division 3 university was an exciting experience for the students. He was pleased to see both the Logger boys and girls teams place fourth in the meet.

“It is a meet against all your conference opponents. You want to do well,” Olson said. “It gives everyone an opportunity to see how they stack up against each other.”

The Loggers highlights included sophomore Leah Harper who won the 400 meter dash with a time of 1:02.65.
