Teams to compete at the Class 2A state meet at St. Michael-Albertville High School on June 6 and 8

The Princeton track and field program will be well represented at this year’s Class 2A state tournament on Thursday, June 6, and Saturday, June 8. Four athletes and one relay team qualified for the Class 2A meet after finishing either first or second in the Section 5-2A finals on Thursday, May 30, at Monticello High School.

Tigers seniors Devon Bragg and Cadyn Miller, as well as sophomores Lily Koenig and Kyleigh Noble, qualified for five individual events at the state tournament. Bragg finished second in the boys 110-meter hurdles in 15.51 seconds. He set a school record for the fastest time in the 110-meter hurdles during the section preliminaries on Tuesday, May 28, finishing in 15.10 seconds. Miller finished second in the boys pole vault, as he leaped 12 feet, 11 inches into the air.

On the girls side, Koenig finished first in both the 100-meter hurdles (16.13 seconds) and the 300-meter hurdles (47.32 seconds). Noble finished first in the high jump and set a Section 5-2A record by jumping 5 feet, 6 inches. Finally, the boys 4x100-meter relay team of Brody Kok, Cole Olson, Carter Ronning and Blain Sternquist finished first in 43.09 seconds, setting new Section 5-2A and Princeton program records.

“This was one of the finest section meets that I can remember in my 30 years of coaching, not just in the sheer number of advances to the state meet, but in how well our teams as a whole competed,” Tigers head coach Tom Ostroot said. “Almost across the board, our kids posted their personal bests.”
