PRINCETON (WVNS) – As the fourth of July approaches, a local foundation sold fireworks for a good cause.

The Schuylar Barnes Foundation sold fireworks to raise funds for moms that have lost children.

Two years ago Jessica Basham lost her daughter, Schuylar Barnes, to cervical cancer. She was only 31 years old. Jessica dealt with the immense grief that comes when a mother looses their child. She found healing and meaning through her faith and with the help of others.

Wanting to honor her daughter and help other mothers that are dealing with the same grief, Jessica set up the Schuylar Barnes Foundation.

The foundation’s mission is to help families who have been touched by cancer, as well as to support children in the foster system or that have been victims of trafficking.

Proceeds from the fireworks sales, will go toward a retreat they’re calling “Broken to Beautiful”. At the retreat, mother’s who have lost children will gather and support each other. Jessica says everyone suffers their own grief, but they don’t have to walk it alone.
