PRINCETON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A Princeton woman is arrested after she cut a man with a knife.

On the afternoon of June 24th, Deputy Sizemore and Deputy Lacy responded to a report of an active domestic disturbance at a residence on Mint Street in the Princeton area of Mercer County. Upon arriving at the scene around 1:28 pm, Deputy Sizemore immediately encountered the male victim, who was covered in blood and pressing a t-shirt against a wound on his arm. The man urgently informed the deputy that the suspect, Brooke Fogleman, had cut him with a knife and was still inside the residence, though he was unsure of her exact location. As Deputy Sizemore entered the home, he observed a trail of blood leading from the front steps up into the trailer, indicating the violent nature of the altercation.

Inside, Deputy Sizemore was met by an emotionally distraught witness, Fogleman’s mother, as other officers, including Deputy Pinter and Lieutenant Ballard, had already located Fogleman locked in a bedroom. After some back-and-forth, Fogleman was able to provide the key to the locked door, allowing the officers to escort her outside. With both Fogleman and the injured now secured, Deputy Sizemore began searching the home, following the trail of blood droplets leading to the back bedroom where the incident had occurred. However, despite thoroughly combing the area, the deputy was unable to locate the knife used in the attack. Sgt. Ellison also searched the home but likewise failed to find the weapon.

Turning his attention to gathering evidence, Deputy Sizemore recorded statements from Fogleman and the victim, reading them their Miranda rights beforehand. He also photographed the exterior of the home, capturing the initial blood evidence on the front steps, as well as the interior crime scene, documenting the trail of blood up to the bedroom where the violent confrontation had taken place. With the investigation complete, Fogleman was ultimately placed under arrest and transported to the Mercer County Sheriff’s Office, where she was charged with one count of malicious wounding for the attack on the man.

Deputies didn’t indicate in their report why Fogleman stabbed the man.

Earlier this month, a shooting in Mercer County left five injured, including a five-year-old child.
