Princeton’s Independence Day festivities give people a full weekend of fun activities

PRINCETON, WV (WVNS) – Every year, Princeton goes all out for their Fourth of July celebrations, and this year was no exception.

They held a car show behind Princeton Senior High School where anybody could bring their car to be entered and shown for possible awards from 9 A.M. to 3 P.M., while they also had a Jeep show in the Chuck Mathena Center parking lot at 5 P.M.

City of Princeton Event director, Madison Gunnoe told 59News about some of the bigger events that are leading up to the big Princeton fireworks display. “We have four bands playing and then we have food trucks, we have different vendors, lemonade stands, different things like that. We have a dunk booth set up for the Princeton K-9 Units, Tracks and Kilo, to raise money for them.”

The concerts also took place at the Chuck Mathena Center parking lot.

The headlining band for the concert was Second Helping, which is the original Lyndyrd Skynyrd tribute band who took the stage at 8 P.M.

Princeton’s fireworks show followed at 9:30 P.M. to finish off the night.

Princeton festivities continue Friday, July 5, 2024 with a drive-in movie at the Chuck Mathena Center. The movie, “The Sandlot”, starts at 8:45 P.M.

On Saturday, July 6, 2024, there will be a disc golf tournament located at Princeton City Park. The tournament starts at 9 A.M.

On Sunday, July 7, 2024, there will be a water day with the Princeton Fire Department at Knob Park starting at 1:30 P.M.
