    2 Hurt, Driver Trapped Following Early Morning Route 109 Crash

    WEST BABYLON, N.Y. - Two people were hurt following a 2-car collision at Route 109 and Straight Path early Tuesday morning.

    At around 2:15AM, the West Babylon Fire Department and Suffolk County Police Department responded to the intersection of Straight Path and Route 109 after two vehicles collided, leaving both drivers injured.

    Upon arrival, first responders found the driver of a Toyota Prius trapped inside the driver's seat. Firefighters had to remove the entire driver's side of the vehicle to safely extricate the injured driver.

    According to reports from the scene, the driver of a red sedan involved in the crash was not trapped but did sustain injuries. Fire crews deployed an oil spill absorbent to address the spilled fluids from the collision on the roadway.

    Both drivers were transported to local area hospitals. The extent of their injuries is not currently known.
