The city will pick up brush that resulted from last week’s tornadoes. But it will be several weeks, at least, before the crews can get around everywhere. At Monday’s City Council meeting, council members were unanimous in their praise of city employees from the fire, police and public works departments for their work in the aftermath of the tornadoes.

Classic Car Enthusiast Passes From Injuries Sustained In Ottawa Wreck
A recent crash in Ottawa that involved an antique Jeep turned out to be fatal. The Ottawa Police Department on Tuesday sent out an updated accident report mentioning that 64-year-old Ronald Winnicki of Ottawa passed away from his injuries. His obituary states that he was pronounced dead July 1st at OSF in Peoria.
Wake Up Tri-Counties with Kewanee Mayor Gary Moore
Kewanee Mayor Gary Moore joined Wake Up Tri-Counties to discuss the Kewanee City Council Meeting from Monday night. Three of the agenda items were for the Kewanee Fire Department. The council approved the lowest bidder for construction to fix the door frame at Fire Station #2 after a fire truck struck the center support while backing into the building. During the process of identifying work needed where the roof partially caved in, they discovered a few areas that were not properly constructed on the roof. There was a separate agenda item for the roof replacement because only part of the roof would be covered by insurance. Porter Brothers was approved as the contractor to do the updates to Francis Park under the OSLAD grant.
