Athletes Unlimited Pro Softball has signed catcher Hannah Borden to the roster for the 2024 Championship season in Rosemont, Illinois. Borden is a five-year letter winner from Southern Mississippi. She started in 222-of-224 games from 2020 to 2024 and holds the program record for home runs with 50. She recorded a .313 career batting average and is second in program history with 150 career RBIs. In her season as a graduate student, she earned First-Team All-Sun Belt Conference and collected Third-Team NFCA All-South Region laurels after hitting a program-record and conference-leading 18 home runs.
Illinois quick hits: State unemployment rate hits 5%; Decatur Public Schools adopt new phone policy for students
The Illinois Department of Employment Security announced that unemployment increased to 5 percent. The May revised unemployment rate was 4.9 percent. The national unemployment rate was 4.1 percent in June, up slightly from the previous month. The number of unemployed workers in the state was 327,900, up over 3 percent from the prior month, and up nearly 19 percent over the same month one year ago.
