It was a water rescue that you don't see every day.

A video on TikTok appears to show a woman swimming in the Providence River during the July 4 WaterFire lighting in Providence – but apparently it was for good reason.

The woman was trying to save a ferret that had fallen into the river, according to the TikTok video.

The video shows the woman swimming toward the ferret, which looks distressed in the water. She reaches the ferret, picks it up, and is soon picked up by a boat at WaterFire.

The video has been viewed more than 313,000 times on TikTok.

The video then shows the woman and the ferret being transported back to land with a crowd looking on.

Someone can be heard yelling, "get out" to the woman in the water.

USA Today Network New England left a message at WaterFire but has not received a response yet. An email was also sent asking for comment.
