On September 25, 2021, The Pullman Police Department (PPD) arrested George Harris III for second-degree assault for his alleged involvement in the shooting.

According to the Whitman County Prosecuting Attorney, due to the nature and complexity of the evidence, the case took time to develop fully.

Harris has been charged in Whitman County Superior Court with one count of first-degree manslaughter in the death of Liban Barre.
