ACO Gulf Coast Classic Cornhole Festival coming to Punta Gorda

Charlotte County will sponsor the ACO Gulf Coast Classic Cornhole Festival ( americancornhole.com/gulfcoast ), presented by the American Cornhole Organization, the worldwide governing body for the sport of cornhole. The event will come to Punta Gorda from June 13-15.

This three-day festival and pro-invitational is built around the competitive game of cornhole and live music. Charlotte County has been the host site for two years and is also under contract to host next year. The annual event, taking place from Thursday until Saturday, will host various tournaments for interested players.

The event details are as follows:

• Open Play – Battle of the Bags, Thursday, June 13: Crew Cup Cornhole will be hosted at The Twisted Fork, 2208 El Jobean Road, Port Charlotte, starting at 7 p.m. Teams of four will play multiple games for a $5,000 guaranteed purse. Each team must pay $50 per player. Walk-up entries will be $250 per team, if available.

For the Blind Draw event, the teams will be created by a blind draw and available to sign up for through walk-up entries. Each player must play $5 per game and can play all they want all evening. This game has the opportunity for 50% payouts.

• The Tiki Toss, Friday, June 14: Singles

Punta Gorda) starting at 6 p.m. There will be a five-game guarantee. The cost is $20 per player ahead of time but a $30 walk-up entry if there is availability. There is a $2,000 guaranteed purse — 40 people will win $50 each.

ACO Pro Invitational: Pros will be competing in a tournament for a $3,000 guaranteed purse.

• Harborside Shootout, Saturday, June

15: Bags will begin to fly starting at

3 p.m. at TT’s Tiki Bar at Four Points by Sheraton Punta Gorda Harborside for Doubles Cornhole for a $10,000 guaranteed purse. Bring your own partner to compete in doubles for a two-game guarantee. The game has a $100 online registration fee and a $150 walk-up entry (if available).

ACO membership is not required for any of the games except the ACO-Pros Only Invitational on Friday, June 14. Over the three days, the American Cornhole Organization will be awarding a total of $20,000 to players. Live music will accompany each tournament for players and onlookers to enjoy.
