It's still summer, but it's not too early to think about the fall and winter when it comes to traveling.

Southwest Florida is a popular destination for tourists, snowbirds and people relocating from other cities around the U.S. That means coming and going with high frequency and travelers are always hoping a nearby airport will take them to their favorite destinations.

Well, here is some good news for travelers wanting a flight to Savannah, Georgia. Allegiant has announced one of its new routes to Savanah will be from Punta Gorda Airport (PGD) in Charlotte County, which is just north of Lee County. The new route will begin Nov. 14 with one-way fares as low as $39.

Check the Allegiant website for more details.

Allegiant Travel Co. announced eight new nonstop routes to 13 cities around the U.S., including several new routes to and from Florida.
