VENICE — A Charlotte County woman is in the Sarasota County Jail on $9,000 bond, accused of taking advantage of stealing from a relative who was out of state.

Angela Krystie Vittori, 36, 26000 block of Dolman Court, Punta Gorda, is charged with fraudulent use of the ID of a victim 65 or older without consent; larceny; grand theft of a controlled substance; and unarmed burglary of an unoccupied dwelling.

All of the charges are felonies.

According to a Venice Police Department probable cause affidavit, after a relative left Florida, Vittori went to their Venice home and took a laptop computer; $200 in cash; jewelry valued at $2,500; oxycodone pills; three debit cards; the title to the home; a passport and Social Security card.

Three charges were made on the debit cards totaling $210, it stated. Vittori was not permitted access to the home in her relative's absence, it stated.

In a phone conversation with a detective, according to the affidavit, Vittori denied having been in the residence.

Informed a neighbor had given a statement saying she had spoken to Vittori at the home, Vittori recanted her denial but said she forgot why she was in the residence, it stated.

Vittori denied having used the debit cards until being told video footage of her was available, the affidavit stated. She then acknowledged using them on a hotel room in Sarasota and at the Venice T.J. Maxx, but said she had permission.

The relative told the detective that Vittori has never had permission to use their debit cards, the affidavit stated.

The detective arranged an in-person interview with Vittori, it stated, but she called it off and said she was going to hire an attorney.

Clerk of court records show Vittori has a long record of traffic offenses in Sarasota County, with one previous felony conviction, for possession of a controlled substance in 2011.

Her arraignment on the current charges is Aug. 30.
