High-speed police chase through Put-in-Bay includes golf cart crash, arrest at gunpoint

A vehicle chase through the streets of Put-in-Bay on Sunday resulted in a crash involving a golf cart and the arrest of the driver.

“It’s unfortunate that the event happened, but my officers took the necessary steps to bring the event to an end by bringing the individual into custody,” Police Chief James Kimble said.

The Put-in-Bay Police Department was dispatched at 1:30 a.m. Sunday on a report of an altercation between a man and a woman in front of Put-in-Bay School. Two officers responded in separate patrol cars. The male was seen fleeing in a vehicle at a high rate of speed on northbound Catawba Avenue, toward both officers.
